The story

The coat has hung by the door for eleven years. Tailored once for an occasion that never happened, its seams are still factory-crisp, the ticket still folded in the breast pocket like a small paper secret. Every evening the lamp finds it, and the wool glows a quiet amber — a photograph of a person caught mid-turn, forever about to reach for the handle. Nobody moves it. Moving it would be an answer, and this house prefers the question. Dust settles on everything else in the room, but somehow it never settles on the shoulders.

Unworn Seam plays at 63 BPM in F Minor, bittersweet trip-hop stitched together from dusty piano, brushed drums that barely agree to land, and a bassline that carries tenderness the way good wool carries the shape of shoulders. A thin vinyl hiss runs through the whole arrangement like thread. The melody keeps almost resolving and then folding itself neatly away again — nostalgic without borrowing a single second of anyone's actual past.

It belongs to the slow hours. As trip-hop for slow evenings it settles over a room the way lamplight does; as downtempo for late evenings it keeps company through the last chapter, the unfinished letter, the drink that quietly outlasts its ice. It asks nothing of you and interrupts nothing. It simply sits with you, the way certain absences learn to do when they are given enough patient evenings.

The final chord hangs unfastened, one stitch away from closed — which is precisely where it ought to stop. Dr.DIO wrote it for the keepers of unworn things, and it plays in rotation through the small hours on the 24/7 radio at drdio.studio. A video version is being tailored for the official Dr.DIO YouTube channel: one door, one lamp, one coat that never left.

Slow evenings under a reading lamp, the last chapter before bed, a quiet drink after everyone has gone, letters you keep not finishing.
