The story
It opens low, almost beneath hearing — a sub-bass drone at 30-60Hz that fills the floor before anything else arrives. A felt piano enters next, muted and close-miked, each note softened like it's being played through a wall. The half-time pulse sits underneath, patient, refusing to rush.
Around the second minute the pipe organ swells in, a sustained cathedral drone that widens the stereo field until the mix feels tall and cold. Pitched-down vocal chops drift through like fragments of speech overheard in a dream, never resolving into words. A distant bell tolls once, reverbed into the dark, then goes quiet.
The dictaphone loop wobbles in and out, tape warble adding a human unsteadiness against the massive detuned 808 that anchors everything. Filters sweep slowly across the drone bed, opening and closing like something breathing. Nothing hits hard — the drums stay rounded, soft-attack, present only as support for the weight above them.
By the final stretch the layers thin back toward the felt piano and a single low drone, the organ fading last. It doesn't resolve so much as it stops, leaving the room colder than it found it.
