The story
Voltage Lullaby runs at 100 BPM in A minor, set entirely inside the imagined space of a power substation at night, relay switches clacking into a hard mechanical percussion motor while sparks crackle into crisp, bright hi-hats. The mains hum rises gradually and settles into the root bass note, the electrical drone itself becoming the harmonic floor the rest of the piece stands on.
A transformer whine slowly morphs into a soaring synthesizer lead that sings with an almost trapped, human quality, the MS-20's raw filter character giving the lead a slightly unstable, alive edge rather than a clean digital tone. The first climax brings the relay groove and the singing transformer together at full charge, the substation at its loudest and most electrically alive.
From there a long stripped valley follows, only the bare hum holding a single note in the dark, nearly everything else silenced. Arc flashes ignite the second theme, a distorted electric guitar grown directly from the hum's overtones, driving a second climax that lands higher and fiercer than the first before a closing reprise settles the current back down.
