The story

It opens on breath and static, a mellotron choir fading up under vinyl crackle like a memory surfacing through fog. The sub-bass sits low and warm from the first bar, a foundation you feel more than hear, while a muted piano motif taps out a hesitant, half-remembered phrase.

Around the second minute the half-time boom-bap drums settle in, soft-attack and dusty, never sharp, just enough pulse to keep the track walking rather than floating. A vocoded chant threads through the mix, ghostly and wordless, answered by an alphorn call that sounds like it's arriving from another valley entirely.

The violin solo takes the middle stretch, bowing long mixolydian lines against the wavetable lead, which circles underneath in slow, patient loops. The two trade space rather than compete, the violin aching upward while the synth stays grounded, and the stereo field opens wide enough that each element feels placed in its own room.

By the final minute everything thins back toward the opening choir and crackle, the alphorn's last call hanging unresolved in F# minor. Nothing resolves cleanly, the piano motif returns once more and fades before finishing its thought, leaving the track exactly where it started: quiet, unfinished, still listening for something.
