The story
The track opens low, almost below hearing, a sub-bass that just sits there like pressure changing in a sealed room. A soft tape echo ticks somewhere behind it, and a dub-chord stab drifts in, long feedback trailing off into the dark. Nothing rushes. At 138 BPM but built half-time, it moves like something twice as slow, footsteps on wet concrete.
Around the two-minute mark the Trilian bass thickens, warm and round, filling the space under a wobble that never screeches, just breathes in and out. Sonar pings bounce across the stereo field, dripping-ceiling percussion falls in slow, uneven drops. The ARP 2600 lead enters here, thin and sci-fi, cutting a single line through the fog.
Layers build without ever getting loud. Post-rock tremolo guitar shimmers underneath the pads, evolving filter sweeps slowly opening the top end, letting light-colored textures bloom then fold back into the drone. Vinyl crackle keeps the whole thing grounded, human, like an old recording of a place that no longer exists.
By the close the stabs thin out, the sub stays, the tremolo shimmer fades last, holding the space open. It ends the way it started, in the dark, with the sense that the tunnel keeps going past where the track stops.
