The story
Reverse Tide shares its guitar-trick foundation with a companion piece, running at 92 BPM in D minor with tremolo-picked tremors forming a churning loop and reverse-swelled chords arriving backwards on each turn. Octave fuzz doubles the main melody an octave down as before, slide phrases smearing between notes while harmonics ring out above the denser layers.
A phaser sweeps slowly across the wall, tape echo repeats the last note of each phrase into a longer trail than usual, and shimmer reverb opens the ceiling of the mix wider than before. A deep melodic bassline carries the actual harmonic movement beneath the guitar textures, drums arriving late and hitting hard once they finally do enter this extended version of the piece.
The first bloom rises into a full wall before collapsing to a single clean guitar under audible tape hiss, the same exposed moment shared with its companion piece. An extended mid-section states a second theme in harmonized thirds, building until the final wall towers over everything, this longer run giving the tide extra room to swell before it finally breaks.
An extended post-rock listening session, a longer cathedral or ruins scene, instrumental guitar showcases, or slow-building live sets.
