The story

The track opens already submerged. Sub-bass sits under everything, a constant 30-60Hz pressure that reads more as depth than as note, and a fogged pad drifts above it with slow, unhurried filter sweeps. There's no attack here, just a gradual brightening and dimming, like light moving through water far overhead.

Fretless bass enters around the two-minute mark, sliding between tones instead of landing on them, its pitch bending the way sound bends underwater. A hang drum answers in soft, rounded strikes, each hit blooming and decaying without any hard edge. Somewhere behind these two, a sonar ping drifts in and out, distant and irregular, marking depth rather than time.

Minimal IDM-style percussion moves in halfway through, but it stays low in the mix, all soft-attack and rounded transients, never cutting through the haze. It's less a beat than a pulse, something felt more than heard, keeping the piece anchored at 62 BPM without ever pushing it forward.

In the final stretch the drone thins slightly, breath-like whispers surfacing briefly through the murk before the pad closes back over them. Nothing resolves so much as it settles, the way sediment settles after something passes through still water.

Play this at 3am on a rooftop, during a late meditation session, in a flotation tank, or as background for deep-focus work when you need pressure without urgency.
