The story

The track opens on pressure before melody, a sub-bass drone parked between 30 and 60Hz that never fully resolves, just breathes. Distant bell tolls surface and vanish, sonar pings scatter across the stereo field like the room has no walls, only depth. The kick and snare arrive half-time, sparse, soft-attacked, more felt than heard.

Around the second minute the fretless bass starts sliding into view, mwah phrasing bending under the drone, groovy but unhurried. The rebab enters bowed and plaintive, a voice with no words, tracing a phrygian line that keeps circling F minor without ever landing on comfort. Filter sweeps open slowly on the pad layers underneath, widening the stereo stage without raising the energy.

Midway the hammered dulcimer shimmers in, bright but never sharp, its metallic decay stretched through long delay feedback until it becomes part of the drone itself. Chord stabs punctuate rather than drive, spaced out, each one given room to ring into the reverb tail. The vox synth threads through as texture, wordless, closer to breath than to singing.

By the final third the elements thin back out, the rebab's last phrases hanging over the sub-bass floor, dulcimer shimmer fading into the reverb, the half-time beat dissolving until only the drone and the low end remain, unresolved, still pressing.

Late-night headphone listening, meditation or breathwork sessions, ambient work sets after dark, and scoring tense or ritualistic scenes in film and games.
