Sign your track: your name or logo in its spectrogram

We write your name or logo into the top of the spectrum of your track, where no one hears it and every spectrogram shows it. You see it before we write it, you get the same file back with a public certificate, and the first signature is free.

The AETHER gift

Many tracks lose their top end somewhere between the project and the master. If yours can be brought back to life, our AETHER process does it for free: you get a second file, signed and improved, next to the signed original, and the spectrogram of both. You choose which one to release. If there is nothing to improve, we say so plainly.

Why the shape stays true

On a spectrogram time runs across and pitch runs up, so one shape looks round or stretched depending on how long the track is and how wide the picture is. We draw every signature so that it keeps its proportions on a 16:9 picture of the whole track, the view most players and our audio check use. The preview shows you exactly that view before anything is written.

What a signature is, and what it is not

A signature shows that the track went through your hands: anyone who opens the file in a spectrogram sees your name, and the certificate shows when it was signed. It survives WAV, FLAC, MP3 at 320 kbps, AAC at 256 kbps and OGG. It is not copy protection: encoders at 160 kbps and lower, and filters that cut the top, remove it.

Questions

How do I hide my name or logo in the spectrogram of a track?

Upload the track here and type your name or add a logo. We write it into the top of the spectrum, above 16.5 kHz, where nobody hears it, and return the file in the same format with a certificate. Open the file in any spectrogram viewer, or on our free audio check, and the signature is there.

Will the signature change how my track sounds?

No. It sits above 16.5 kHz at a very low level, in a band adult ears do not hear. You also get a null test: below 16 kHz the signed file is the same as yours.

Does the signature survive MP3 and streaming?

It survives WAV, FLAC, MP3 at 320 kbps and AAC at 256 kbps. Encoders at 160 kbps and lower cut the top of the spectrum and the signature with it. It is a signature of authorship, not copy protection: a filter that removes the top removes it too.

What does it cost?

The first signature is free. Then $2.99 for one, $14.99 for 10 or $49.99 for 50. Creator ($9.99 a month) includes 5 signatures every month, together with 100 tracks for your videos, the app, offline listening, CarPlay and Android Auto.

What is the AETHER gift?

If the top of your track can be brought back to life, our AETHER process does it for free and you get a second, improved file next to the signed original, with spectrograms before and after. If there is nothing to improve, we say so. It is a gift, not a promise.

What is in the certificate?

A number, the author name, the date, the fingerprints (SHA256) of your file and of the signed files, and where the signature sits in time and frequency. Anyone can check it on its public page.

Do you keep my music?

No. The uploaded file is deleted when the signature is made, the signed files after 24 hours. We keep only the fingerprints and the certificate.

Which formats can I upload?

WAV, FLAC, AIFF, MP3, M4A (AAC) and OGG, up to 300 MB and 30 minutes. You get the same format back: WAV and FLAC with the same sample rate and bit depth, MP3 at 320 kbps.
