The story

A passacaglia-style descending bassline builds slowly beneath the piece, the kind of repeating low figure that classical composers used to anchor variation, here rendered through a dominant, groovy Trilian-grade sub. At 72 BPM the tempo is patient, giving a theremin motif room to glide in a phrygian, valley-shaped contour before dissolving into vocoded choir pads.

Granular textures scatter like distant stars across the stereo field, distant piano whispers surfacing and receding under a shimmering, near-infinite reverb tail. Tape hiss keeps the digital granular layers grounded in something warmer and older. Felt piano and violin solo trade brief phrases in the mid-register, never fully taking the lead from the theremin's glide.

FM bells ring out at wide intervals, adding cold points of light against the warmer pads, while a barely-there brushed percussion pulse keeps time without asserting itself. The shoegaze wall of guitar drowns in reverb behind everything, and p_bass and tubular bells mark the piece's ritualistic turns, the whole arrangement orbiting its own reflection rather than moving in a straight line.

For late-night stargazing, a slow ambient work session, rain-window contemplation, or a meditative reading soundtrack.
