The story

Sunken Belltower opens on a single held drone at 75 BPM in G# Minor, the kind of tempo that lets each event breathe for several seconds before the next one arrives. Sub-bass sits constant between 30 and 60Hz, less a note than a pressure change, while a fretless bass slides underneath it with the mwah phrasing of a session player easing into a held chord rather than a riff.

Midway the fog thickens: layered Omnisphere-grade pads stack into a wide stereo field, an organ pedal adds a second low anchor, and a crystal bowl rings out in slow decaying strikes that never quite resolve. The english horn enters late, reedy and melancholic, tracing a line that rises just enough to feel like memory surfacing through water before sinking back under the drone.

In the final third the erhu answers the horn with a thinner, more fragile timbre, bent notes sliding against the fixed pitch of the tolling bell. Tape hiss stays audible under everything as a floor, never swelling, negative space left deliberately unfilled between each strike. The track closes the way it opened, on the same sub-bass pressure, the bell's last decay left to ring out alone into silence rather than fading under a final chord.

Late-night driving with no traffic, staring at rain on a window, insomnia at 3am, or working through old photographs alone.
