What the Commercial Music Library allows
Permitted uses are including Commercial Sounds in videos posted on TikTok, associating a sound with a brand or logo, and promoting products or services on TikTok, such as paid hashtag challenges.
Commercial use is licensed only on TikTok. Use on other platforms, TV, radio or theatrical content needs separate permission from the rights holders. Sounds may not be distributed or performed separately from the video. Creative Center users must check the Usable Placements list; other placements need rights holder approval.
Premium Tracks may carry an extra fee, and business users allow TikTok to share campaign and performance data with rights holders. The terms give no license duration.
What happens with music outside the library
No commercial rights are granted for sounds outside the CML. Using non CML music commercially gives no rights and exposes the user to rights holder claims, and users indemnify TikTok against claims arising from misuse.
If TikTok loses the rights to a sound, it may remove related videos or mute the audio, and is not liable for doing so. Specific steps for business accounts using non CML music are not detailed in the terms.
Using music you have a license for
A business with its own license for a track, for example from the artist or a library, relies on that license, not the CML. The license should name TikTok and the intended placements (organic posts or ads); keep proof of it.
Whether TikTok lets a business account upload its own audio, and how disputes about it are handled, is not covered in the CML terms. That business accounts are limited to the CML in the in app sound picker is widely reported but was not confirmed on an official page for this guide.
Dr.DIO on TikTok
Dr.DIO does not register its music in YouTube Content ID. The Creator plan ($9.99 a month) gives 100 tracks a month, a license number for YouTube and the Dr.DIO radio as a stream background; the Free plan gives 10 tracks a month with the credit line "Music: Dr.DIO · track title · drdio.studio".
For a business account, check that the Dr.DIO license terms cover TikTok and the placement you plan, and keep the license number; whether TikTok's app lets a business account add its own audio was not confirmed.
