When Rockbot is the better choice
Rockbot suits venues that want popular music and a lively room. Guests can request songs with Rockbot Request, and you can add digital signage, Rockbot TV and audio messaging. Dr.DIO offers none of that.
In the US Rockbot covers ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR and says it can replace your PRO licenses. It also handles local PROs in Canada, Mexico and New Zealand. Dr.DIO has no big label music.
When Dr.DIO fits better
Dr.DIO Business needs no hardware: the venue player runs in a browser. It costs $14.99 a month with no long term, or $149 a year, and the first 14 days are free, compared with a 7 day Rockbot trial.
No Dr.DIO track is registered with any collecting society, and the license for Dr.DIO music comes from the studio directly. In some countries a society may presume all music is in its repertoire (GEMA in Germany is one example), and the venue may need to show it plays only non managed music. Radio, TV or live music in the same venue still need their own licenses.
It fits cafes, shops and studios that want calm downtempo, lounge or deep house rather than requests and hits.
