When YouTube Music is the better choice
YouTube Music is a strong personal service with a huge major label catalog. For your own listening, it has far more artists and genres than Dr.DIO.
Dr.DIO also has a free LIVE 24/7 stream on YouTube, but that is for listening, not a venue license.
When Dr.DIO fits better
YouTube's Paid Service Terms, Section 5, say the license is for your personal, non commercial use only, and that you agree not to use any Paid Service in connection with any public presentation, except where such use would not be a copyright infringement.
Dr.DIO Business gives a venue its own public playback license and certificate for $14.99 a month, with the first 14 days free. No Dr.DIO track is registered with any collecting society, and the license for Dr.DIO music comes from the studio directly. In some countries a society may presume all music is in its repertoire (GEMA in Germany is one example), and the venue may need to show it plays only non managed music. Radio, TV or live music in the same venue still need their own licenses.
How to try Dr.DIO
- Listen to the free radio stations on drdio.studio to hear the catalog
- Sign in with Google or Apple and choose Business for your venue
- Use the first 14 days free with the venue player in the browser
- Set your own station and hourly schedule, and keep the venue certificate
